Zed is a high-performance, AI-native code editor built in Rust. It supports .rules files (plus .cursorrules, AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md, and others) for project instructions with a defined priority order. AI configuration lives in settings.json with per-feature model assignment, inline alternatives, tool permissions with regex patterns, and a Rules Library for managing reusable prompts.
